On the weekend of Nov.6, over 30 people responded to a call to help out the Reservation at the Forest Preserve. In upcoming weeks, additional groups will motivate. Here are details.
Special Trail Repair Days by Conservancy Set for Nov. 12, 13, and 20
To deal with the unprecedented devastation brought about by the freak October storm, the South Mountain Conservancy has been scheduling special Trail Repair Days to remove branches and cut toppled trees. We thank the 30+ volunteers who cleared the trails and fences at the Forest Preserve this past Sunday. Upcoming events are:
Saturday, Nov. 12, 9-12;30, at Painter’s Point off Brookside Drive (1/2 mile north of Glen Ave.)
Sunday, Nov. 13, 9-12:30, at Tulip Springs (1/2 mile north of South Orange Avenue on Cherry Lane)
Sunday, Nov. 20, 9:30-12:00, at Elmdale,
also perahps at Forest Preserve at front of dog park off Crest Drive (this is a regular a Forest Regeneration date)
Bring loppers, bow saws, a chain saws, if you have one, and a friend 15 years of age or older. We have gloves and water. And thanks for helping save the trail system before the winter comes.
